OpenBot 0.46.0
New
- OpenBot can read replies aloud on this computer. Turn on Read replies aloud in Settings › Voice › Spoken replies. When you dictate a message, its reply is read aloud in the language of the reply, in 31 languages. Dictate again, or send a new message, to stop it. Choose one of ten voices and press Listen to hear a sample. The Supertonic 3 voice model downloads once, about 145 MB, and no text or audio leaves the computer.
- A bar above the composer shows the reply that is read aloud, with a Stop button.
- Each agent message has a Read aloud button. Press it again to stop reading.
- Talk to an agent in the Voice pane of the side panel. Open it from the side panel or from the "+" menu of the composer. Speak, and stop talking to send the message. The agent reads its reply aloud, and then the pane listens again. The first time, the pane downloads the voice models. A waveform under the agent moves with your voice, so you can see that it hears you, and with the agent's voice while it speaks. Mute, Interrupt and End control the conversation.
- A message that you speak in the Voice pane has a voice player in its bubble, with the waveform and length of your recording. Play, pause, or click the waveform to go to a different part. The agent gets only the text, and the recording stays on this computer. The reply to a spoken message has a player too: it reads the reply aloud with a timer, and you can pause and resume it. After one full reading, the reply keeps its audio until you close OpenBot: its player shows the waveform and length, plays again at once, and you can click the waveform to go to a different part.
- The Voice pane works with an agent on a remote server. The spoken reply runs on this computer, speech recognition uses the voice model you chose in Settings › Voice, and only the text goes to the server. A message that you speak to a remote agent has no voice player.
- When the server of the agent disconnects, the Voice pane stops listening and tells you. It listens again when the server connects. When a spoken message cannot be sent, the pane tells you and listens again; the message stays in the chat with Retry, Edit and Dismiss.
- Voice recordings use WebM/Opus, about 4 KB a second. They show in the Storage tab of Server Settings, where you can delete them, and they are part of a data export.
- The production desktop app sends OpenPanel events for the Voice pane, spoken replies, the voice model download and the spoken reply settings: counts, times, lengths and results only. It never sends what you said, the reply, or audio.
- Invite users to the OpenBot community from a card at the bottom of the sidebar, in the desktop app and the web client. "Join the Discord" opens the Discord server, and the X button opens the OpenBot account on X. The card stays closed after you dismiss it. On desktop, it shows after you dismiss the mobile app card.
Improved
- Set "Memories per agent" only in Server settings → General → Agents, for this computer and for joined servers. App Settings no longer shows it. Before, the App Settings value applied only to agents on your computer, so a server's agents could stop at 64 memories while App Settings showed a higher limit. Global search also finds "Memories per agent".
- The top of the openbot.run home page no longer shows a grid behind the title.
- In the web app, an account with no server now sees Create a hosted server as the first action. Download OpenBot and Join with invitation are still there.
- Show the License section in Billing also when licenses are not for sale. A purchase then shows a message with the address to contact: licenses@openbot.run.
Fixed
- Keep the saved account sign-in when OpenBot cannot read or save it at one start. Before, OpenBot deleted it, and you had to sign in with an email code again after the next restart or update. OpenBot now writes the reason to
logs/account/account.login its data folder. - Keep a question from a ChatGPT agent open until you answer it. Before, with GPT-6 models the question often expired after about 20 seconds.
- On Windows and Linux, "Keep OpenBot running in the background" now works. When it is on, closing the window hides OpenBot, and an icon in the system tray opens it again or quits it. Before, the window closed OpenBot, and the switch was off again after a restart.
- "Launch OpenBot at login" now opens OpenBot when you sign in to your computer. Before, the switch did nothing and was on again after a restart.
- OpenCode agents no longer fail on each message with "OpenCode service failure" when OpenCode cannot read the agent's session, for example a session that another OpenCode version wrote. The agent now continues in a new session with its conversation.
